Wow. Today has been eventful in terms of Wolfmother news. First, a lyric video for Pretty Peggy and now a track-by-track preview of the album (if you have chrome you can click the funny symbol on the top right corner of the page that automatically translates it to English).
Pretty Peggy is more of an indie rock type ballad. Rather than perhaps a classic rock ballad as we are used to hearing (think - In The Morning, Caroline and Far Away). It has got a 'pop' feel to the song. But as Twinfoot said because its Wolfmother we feel natural to like it and accept the new non-Wolfmother like sound. However, this song does sound completely different to the other songs on the album that have been previously released. In my opinion, I would have preferred a bluesy/psychedelic sound even in ballads like this. But I can't complain if Wolfmother (or should I say Stockdale) want a change of direction in the sound and theme.
Talking of theme, this album really does have a romance and happy living theme to it. The song titles give it away initially. Then listen to the lyrics of Pretty Peggy! Like I said, not a bad thing, just Stockade has matured in life and settled down and his song-writing themes have changed. I have only listened to Pretty Peggy once so it could easily grow on me. I'm not dismissing it.
As with the track-by-track preview, 'Baroness' appears to be odd, eccentric, love-themed and perhaps got a weird groove to it (like 'Feelings' from New Crown). 'Simple Life' seems insightful, perhaps lighter, despite getting a quick preview of a heavy guitar riff for the song a few months ago. 'Happy Face' (despite the name) has echoes of Black Sabbath, unsettling but heavy and loud. Any finally, 'Eye of the Beholder'is the finishing track of the album- yes it well be heavy- with metal structures. 'Enthralling ending!' so I'm hoping for a 'Violence of the Sun' feel to it as that finished off Cosmic Egg superbly with the empathy and drama from the vocals and instruments that produced a mesmerising outro to the song.
Anyway, that's my thoughts, opinions and analysis. I go on too much. But there's lots to talk about as it's going to be an exciting few weeks for Wolfmother fans!

Wonder how Wedding sounds like. It's such a ballad name but knowing Tiger, he wouldn't play drums in a ballad-type song.

I'm surprised no site posted at least 15-sec previews of the songs yet.

Yeah. I remember in 2014 (or late 2013) somebody posted the third Wolfmother album on YouTube as Wolfmother III. It had a white background instead and was prior to release. I'm glad that hasn't happened with Victorious though as I wanted to have the 19th February as a date to look forward to. That's a slightly egotistical album cover. But we're used to that as it's Stocky's band of course To be honest, I can't stand Universal. Wolfmother needs to get signed to Nuclear Blast. That would be awesome. Or maybe Napalm Records. Smaller record labels that work with metal bands are usually the best as they don't sell out the band, but also they don't change their sound, style or theme. Having said that, those record labels are European and of course that wouldn't happen as WM are aussies.

Wonder how Wedding sounds like. It's such a ballad name but knowing Tiger, he wouldn't play drums in a ballad-type song. Here's an article I wrote back in September. Back then it was only a rumour about Wedding. Somebody wrote in the comments section that Wedding is the part of Berlin where Kadavar's studio is located (where the song was recorded) But at the same time, it is likely to be a ballad because of the name of the song and the link to romance- despite Tiger's energetic crash smashing drumming. It's definitely the song I'm looking forward to the most. Probably because I met Tiger (Christoph Bartelt) in London last year and is one of my drumming inspirations. And of course Andrew is a legend so the combination is immense!!!

I hope it's not a ballad. Even with that title. Pretty Peggy is enough ballad for a 10-song album. And now I'm afraid the album is gonna be too pop oriented, after that song and based on the track-by-track. Hope it's not the case.

I know we haven't heard really anything apart from the 4 tracks that has been released but mine is Remove your mask. It is absolutely the one I need to listen to right now based on the very small preview..
