Gosh, it's been while since I've been on here. I miss when this place was bumpin'. Anyway, I'm back on here after listening to the first two album, and I just can't get over that it seems like Andrew's gotten lazier and lazier with his songwriting. I'm of the belief that he needs another voice (ie established producer) to help along with the writing and recording process. The newer songs have great parts in them but they seem to me like they are half baked. I have none of those thoughts with regard to the first two albums.
Any comments?

I completely agree except I felt like Victorious gives me that same feeling as the first two, probably because he had a great producer behind him on that one as well.

Higher and Freedom Is Mine(Despite being Pleased To Meet You) are brilliant. It's just the mixing on both is compressed as shit and lack any organ. Best case scenario ever would be a reunion with Chris and Myles, but that will never happen. Chris has a family and Myles has an art career. These new songs are just Andrew, and that's a problem because if you listen to Higher, it's just a rip of Happy Wolfmothers Day. On top of that, Spanish Rose is a rip of Fast And Loose by Motorhead.

Higher is a rip of Happy Wolfmothers Day. Rocknroll survival is a rip off Higher. Metal & Fire is a rip off Rocknroll survival

Rock'n'roll Baby as an album feels like a joke, incomplete, unofficial and just not Wolfmother. The one thing I can appreciate from it is that Higher and Freedom Is Mine got remastered (Although hardlynoticeable).

So I've got a chance to listen, and what can I say, it's not necessarily bad but just seems a bit undercooked. As we were discussing earlier in the thread I feel like Andy needs a real producer in order to put out quality stuff, when he's left to his own devices he puts out stuff like this/Keep Moving/New Crown which aren't bad but don't match the quality of the first record/Cosmic Egg/Victorious. Also with only 7 songs at 23 minutes it feels like more of an EP than an album. One would think he would have put chase the feeling on there at least with all the promotion that song got.
On a side note, when I saw the album got released I thought to myself "wow, the first WM record to not feature Myles/Chris or Ian" and then I saw Freedom Is Mine was included lol.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElyB6PENh9MMonolith and The Violence Of The Sun 2! Wolfmother's last show in Canada (original line up) in 2008 where they played the two songs with alternate lyrics and guitar solos. In addition, the band is a lot tighter in their performance. Only issues would be Andrew's voice is a bit exhausted and the new guitar solos and more simple compared to the Andy Warhol show.

Listened to that song a lot growing up. I've always wondered if it was recorded during the Cosmic Egg sessions.

Anyone know if Pleased To Meet You would have been on original album 2?

Anyone know if Pleased To Meet You would have been on original album 2? I don't think so, they hadn't even begun production on that record by the time it was released.

That just sucks, I really wish it would have because it fits so well with songs like Back Round and the rest of the og songs Was there any talk of what songs they did get to write throughout 2008? Or was it just the four talked about continuously. Because in an interview on yt somewhere, he said that throughout the whole first tour he was writing and tweaking In The Morning

I know they hadn't began production at that time, but I have no doubt that songs were being written. For example, In The Morning was an idea that Andy had been forming during 2006-07 but only really buckled down on after he returned home from touring. He said this in one of those YouTube interviews but until I find it it's just my word.
