I'm leaving debut out of this face-off 'cause it's almost everyone's favorite. But which do you prefer? The complexity and grandiosity of Cosmic Egg or the rawness and aggressiveness of New Crown?

I really can't decide. Cosmic Egg as a whole album is really good and pratically I like all the songs on it. On the other hand, New Crown was rough and full of energy, with a great 70s vibe, it has some of my favourites WM tracks ever (Enemy, I ain't got no, Tall Ships), but others aren't as good as the rest of the album.
So, as a complete album I think Cosmic Egg is better, but I liked Enemy is in your mind and Tall Ships more than each Cosmic Egg's song

CE for me.. I loved new crown but it just felt unfinished and rushed. Brilliant songs on there as well.. If only they were a little more polished.
cosmic egg was brilliant.. Violence of the sun disappointed me as I heard the early live version of it and I absolutely loved that.. Still a good song though..

I particularly love 'em both. I voted Cosmic Egg as it's just perfect while New Crown has two "meh" songs: She Got It and Feelings. My least favorite CE song is actually White Feather, which isn't bad at all. It's a great album all-around. I don't get why some people were disappointed with it, it follows the debut's formula really well.

Incredible! Probably one of the best songs I've seen them play! I wasn't a huge fan of she got it either..

Yeah. Cosmic Egg is one of my favourite albums of all time. Obviously, the debut album was what got me hooked into Wolfmother but I soon got tired of the overplayed Joker, Woman and Dimension and moved on to the dark horses inside Cosmic Egg. Violence of The Sun is possibly my favourite Wolfmother song. So emphasising and a truly mesmerising ending. Same can be said about Eyes Open. The album also has lots of ballads and lighter songs including In The Morning, Far Away and Caroline (all of which are fantastically written). 10,000 feet and Back Around are some of the heaviest tracks known to Wolfmother fans and are both awesome in my opinion- can't get enough of the riffs. You have to include the bonus edition of Cosmic Egg because of the quality of the bonus songs.
New Crown eventually grow on me. It was more psychedelic. And at the time, it made me dislike the sub-genre of music, before I actually really digged psych rock through bands like Radio Moscow. NC had some nice raw energy and certainly good for bands to play live. It was also nice to see a consistent line-up. The tracks How Many Times, Tall Ships and Heavy Weight were the stand outs of the album in my opinion.

But I'd rather see New Crown, Heavy Weight, Tall Ships, Radio, Tangerine Dream and Enemy live.

I absolutely love both albums and listen to them all the time. But it's really hard to decide which one is better. For me they are too different in their appearance. Cosmic Egg has this high-plished sound and more complex songs on it and seems way more consistent in general. Although there were a lot of songs on (especially on the deluxe version) it never seemed boring or mediocre.
New Crown on the other hand has that raw, dirty sound which I really like - but which also seems really bad on some songs (Tangerine Dream f.e.). For me the album sounds too amateurish in many parts. But in the end I still listen to it very often. The remastered CD version was much better than the iTunes version btw!!
In the end I really can not pick one side because they are just too different.
